Concierge Nurse UK Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are your qualifications?
Our service is Nurse led. Our team is made up of NMC Registered Nurses and we work with GMC Registered Doctors and GPC Pharmacists to ensure our service is safe and working within the professional regulated standards. Our team has over 20 years combined medical experience in the NHS and Private Health Sector.
  • Do you do home, hotel & office visits?
Yes, click here for more information about our Concierge Nursing Service.
  • What is IV drip therapy?
IV Drip Therapy the low-risk wellness intervention of administering vitamins and medications directly into the bloodstream via a vein.
  • Is IV drip therapy painful?
Pain thresholds vary and are unique to everyone, our goal is for your experience to be as comfortable as possible. There is an initial pinch/sharp scratch as the needle of the IV cannula is inserted. Let our nurse know if you require a numbing agent.
  • Do I need blood tests before having a drip?
Blood tests before an IV drip are not a mandatory requirement, however if you have had a blood test we can definitely look at the results and advise the best IV drip to have.
  • How often should I have IV drips?
It is always best to know your body and be able to identify signs and symptoms of deficiencies. On average we would recommend IV drip therapy approximately once a month outside of general hydration drips that have no potent additives, these can be assessed and recommend as clinically appropriate.
  • Is it safe to exercise after having an IV drip?
Yes, you can resume normal daily activities. We do recommend that you wait an hour or so before strenuous exercise.
  • Can IV drip therapy help cancer patients?
There currently is no clinical evidence that IV drip therapy will cure, prevent or treat cancer of any type or any other conditions. It's good to know that there is ongoing research in this field, although the outcome is currently inconclusive and therefore we are unable to recommend our products for these reasons. At Concierge Nurse UK we do not endorse IV vitamin drips as an alternative to traditional medicine such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and targeted therapies. Our IV vitamin Drips can be used as a means of improved “wellness” to improve energy levels and hydration status. Concierge Nurse UK cannot guarantee that any IV vitamin Drips will alleviate side effects from traditional treatment or symptoms associated with cancer. We advise that you keep your specialist fully informed if you intend to use our IV drip therapy services. Concierge Nurse UK accepts no liability for any symptoms or side effects attributed to cancer or traditional treatments. Concierge Nurse UK IV drip therapies are to improve wellness and not to treat or cure cancer.
  • How much fluid do you infuse? Is the amount safe?
We will infuse variable amounts from 100ml to 1,000ml. The maximum we infuse which is 1000ml is actually a third of your daily intake of fluid, and it is safe to have in an IV drip. We will take into account your medical history and observations/vital signs. We will check your blood pressure, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation prior to IV drip therapy administration. If you have any medical conditions such as heart or kidney problems (as disclosed to us on your medical questionnaire), this will be taken into account by one of our health care professionals before deciding if it is safe and appropriate to go ahead.
  • Can I continue taking multivitamins alongside IV drip therapy?
Yes, however there is no need to take the same vitamins as you have through IV drip therapy.
  • What if I am pregnant, breastfeeding or having IVF?
During breastfeeding we would recommend basic hydration drips and any multivitamin drips. We do not administer IV drip therapy to pregnant women or those actively going through IVF.
  • What about infection risk?
Bacteraemia (blood infection) affects 0.5 cases per 1,000 days of IV access of peripheral cannula insertion, compared to 2.7 cases per 1000 days IV access for central catheter insertion. (Miguel Angel Roadriguez-Calero et al). To date, we have had no reported cases and our service always practices within the infection prevention guidelines.
  • Can anyone get IV drip therapy?
The majority of our clients are eligible, we d however reserve the right to withhold treatment if we deem that the procedure would create complications or concerns. We do not offer our services to anyone under the age of 18.
  • What's the difference between vitamin injections & IV drips?
IV drips are multiple or singular nutrients delivered intravenously via a cannula inserted into a vein in your arm or hand. A vitamin injection is a single nutrient delivered into the muscle in the arm or buttock by infection.
  • How long does it take to feel the effects?
Vitamin injections start working straight away. However, it may take a few days or weeks before your specific vitamin levels and symptoms (such as extreme tiredness or lack of energy) start to improve.
  • Should I continue taking multivitamins?
Yes, but you shouldn’t need to take the same vitamins as you have with us. If you have had a Vitamin B12 Booster Shot then you shouldn’t need to take a daily B12. If you have a Vitamin D Booster Shot, we would strongly recommend you stop taking any additional Vitamin D supplements.
  • Are there any dietary requirements?
You can eat and drink normally while having your vitamin injections. Be mindful of excessive alcohol consumption which can deplete your vitamin levels significantly.
